Abscess dental symptoms
Early stages of dental abscess when the abscess is not yet formed it can be cured with the help of specific antibiotics and pain relievers. These medicines to cure dental abscess must be prescribed by an experienced dentist. First of all the dentist has to exam the condition of the root of the tooth. In some cases removal of the tooth may be needed. The doctor will also recommend you all necessary medicines to cope with your problem. If the dental abscess has reached the purulent stage it is necessary to remove the purulent mass and sanitize the infected area.

It is important to remember that one should treat dental abscess only in a specialized dental clinic. Under the influence of local anesthetic the dentist will cut the area near the bad tooth and remove the pus. To secure further removal of pus from the cavity the dentist will carry out drainage by placing a small piece of sterile rubber into the cavity.

In addition to surgical treatment medicamental therapy consisting of antibacterial and anti-inflammatory medicines will be prescribed. These medicines are used to remove pain, inflammation, and temperature.

Mind the following moment: an experienced dentist must prescribe medicines paying attention to the peculiarities of your disease. He will also tell you how many times a day and for how long you should take your medicines. Soon pain will disappear as well as the edema and swelling. The cut made during the surgery will not disturb you for too long. Sometimes there are cases when the dental abscess keeps progressing even despite all taken measures pus appears in the soft tissues and turns into an abscess. In this case further treatment is absolutely necessary.

An important remark: you cannot get rid of dental abscess yourself. The only thing you can do is to reduce the swelling. Moreover, the consequences of self-treatment can be sad and the only thing you will get is a complicated purulent infection. As soon as you have noticed the first signs of dental abscess see your dentist. The course of the disease is very individual and proper treatment can be prescribed only by a careful and experienced doctor. Dental abscess can provoke the development of phlegmon pus gets under different muscles of the patients face and goes down to the neck. Phlegmon is a generalized suppurative inflammation and under some conditions it can become terminal.

These things must not be done if you have dental abscess:

  • Do not apply hot compresses to the sore place. The speed of spreading of purulent masses will only increase.
  • Do not use antibiotics if they are not prescribed by your dentist.
  • Do not apply bandages. They are useless.
  • Do not take pain reliever if you are going to see the dentist.
  • If the dentist has cut the abscess do not take aspirin as it may provoke bleeding.
