What is periodontitis?

What is juvenile periodontitis?
There are many different diseases of parodentium. In some cases not only a part of parodentium but the whole parodentium can be damaged. The disease can take different sources depending on its character. There are 3 forms of periodontitis: inflammatory, tumourous and dystrophic. It is worth mentioning that 90% of all cases of parodentium diseases are inflammatory. The examples are periodontitis and gingivitis.

Periodontitis is an inflammatory disease of parodentium tissues. The main symptoms of progressing periodontitis are: destruction of connections between gums and teeth, destruction of jaw bones (usually the alveolar bone).

Whenever periodontitis starts progressing such symptoms as gingival hemorrhage, gum swelling, increased dental calculus formation appear. If you do not cure periodontitis at this stage bad breath can be the result. There will be a gum recess between the teeth later.

The dentist will easily find this recess with the help of a special instrument. In most cases gum recesses are filled with different soft and hard dental deposits. Usually periodontitis is the result of bad dental care. Mind that thorough hygiene is very important! Two diseases of parodentium usually appear one after the other. They are periodontitis and gingivitis. Gingivitis starts first. It consists in the inflammation process within the gum. Periodontitis goes next and destroys the alveolar bone and dentogingival ligament.

Periodontitis can be cured if you turn to your doctor in time. Various systemic diseases as well as traumas and burn can worsen the course of periodontitis. Ill-fitting crowns, fillings and malocclusion can injure parodentium tissues.
